My own home is fully automated and locally controlled. I write firmware and build device clouds for a living, so an install from me is not a box-and-app job. It is a system designed to keep working when the internet does not, because local-first control means the switch still works when the cloud is down.

Both. Most of my installs are retrofits into homes people already live in, done with minimal mess.
